About Us
Welcome to Apna Jangal, a pioneering initiative dedicated to empowering and uplifting forest-dependent communities in the picturesque region of Jammu and Kashmir. At Apna Jangal, we recognize the intrinsic bond between forests and local livelihoods, and we are committed to fostering sustainable practices that ensure the well-being of both people and nature. Established with the vision of creating a harmonious relationship between communities and forests, Apna jangal operates at the intersection of conservation, community development, and technological innovation. We firmly believe that by equipping forest-dependent communities with the necessary tools, knowledge, and opportunities, we can catalyze positive change while safeguarding our precious natural resources for generations to come.
Our mission is clear: to bridge the gap between traditional wisdom and modern science, thereby enabling local residents to responsibly manage forest resources and derive livelihoods in a manner that respects ecological integrity. With a focus on non-timber forest produce (NTFP), including firewood, fodder, and various forest edibles, we aim to enhance the economic prospects of forest communities while promoting sustainable harvesting practices and biodiversity conservation.
